Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about Physiotherapy.

01

What Should I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit to Saint John East Physiotherapy will be an assessment which will consist of a series of questions and special tests specific to you in order to determine a clinical diagnosis. The diagnosis will help us to determine an appropriate treatment plan. The treatment plans will typically consist of pain relief, modalities, hands on treatment, exercises and education.

02

What should I wear?

At Saint John East Physiotherapy we need to have access to the injured area, so you will need shorts for a lower body injury and females should wear/bring a tank top for neck and shoulder injuries and sneakers. We have shorts at the clinic for your convenience.

03

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your doctor's referral if you have one. You do not need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist although some insurance companies require one.

04

How many treatments will I need?

This will depend on the injury. Most injuries require clients to come 2-3x/week for the first 2 weeks and will decrease as the injury improves and you transition to a home program. Throughout the course of treatment we will show you the tools you need to manage your condition.

05

Can you direct bill my insurance company?

We can direct bill most insurance companies for physiotherapy so there is less out of pocket for you.

06

Can Physiotherapy help Arthritis?
In a word YES! We cannot always reverse the whole problem but there are necessary problems to be addressed. Tight/weak muscles, stiff and inflamed joints and irritated tendons can be helped to reduce your pain and disabilities. Contact your Doctor to see if Physiotherapy is applicable for your condition. Be sure to ask about GLA:D
